MochiCoins Guidelines

These guidelines govern the use of the MochiCoins that are licensed to end users in accordance with the MochiGames TOS as well as the use of the MochiCoins API within games by Developers who utilize the MochiCoins API TOS

  1. Q: What are MochiCoins?

MochiCoins is a virtual currency / microtransactions platform for flash games whereby:

Game developers may use the MochiCoins platform to enable microtransactions (including, but not limited to bonus level unlocks, character unlocks or full game purchase) within their games.

Consumers / users may purchase licenses to use MochiCoins for across MochiCoins-enabled games

Publishers / site owners may access and host MochiCoins-enabled games for their own sites

  2. Q: Who can purchase MochiCoins?

Any end user with a valid MochiGames account and a valid payment mechanism may purchase MochiCoins.

  3. Q: How much do MochiCoins cost players in real dollars?

Coins are sold in packs of 1000, 2500, and 5000 coins. The pricing is currently $1 for 800 coins, but discounts are offered for larger purchases. We may decide, at any time, in our sole discretion, to change the exchange value of MochiCoins. You can purchase MochiCoins here

  4. Q: Can MochiCoins be transferred between end users?

An end user may purchase MochiCoins as a gift. At the time of purchase, the Buyer gifts coins to another end user by specifying the email address associated with the MochiGames account to which they’d like to give the gift.

By entering the email address of the gift recipient, the person entering the address represents that they have permission to give the gift recipient’s email address to MochiGames for the purposes of receiving the gift.

If the gift purchase is verified, the MochiCoins system will send an email containing an activation code to both the recipient and the buyer. Once the gift recipient receives the email, they will be directed to the "Buy Coins" page where they can log into their own MochiGames account and input the code into a "Redeem Code / Gift" box.

Mochi Media will not be held responsible for incorrect email addresses, or emails that may be sent at the direction of the gift giver to potential recipients, and the gift giver accepts all liability in connection with the gift emails they direct to be sent.

  5. Q: What kinds of items can players buy (or can developers sell) in exchange for MochiCoins?

Developers may sell items that enhance game-play such as power-ups or special items, decorative items, access to locked levels, or even access to a full version of their game.

  6. Q: Can players sell their MochiCoins for cash or other real-world tangible items?

No. We prohibit the use of MochiCoins as a substitute for real-world currency. MochiCoins are licensed to end users by Mochi Media, Inc. in accordance with the MochiGames TOS solely for use within Mochi Games that comply with the MochiCoins API TOS.

  7. Q: Can a MochiGames account holder get a refund for MochiCoins in their wallet?

No. We do not offer refunds for MochiCoin licenses, regardless of whether you have used them or not. However, MochiCoins are offered in very low-price increments, and we recommend that you initially purchase a small number of licenses to try the service before you commit to a larger non-refundable purchase of licenses.

  8. Q: What is the MochiCoins API?

The MochiCoins API is the group of functions game developers use to display and sell items within their game. It is an ActionScript package that developers may download and integrate into their source code before they publish and distribute their game(s). The API is documented in the MochiAds Developer Documentation and available for use subject to the MochiCoins API TOS[link].

  9. Q: What is the revenue share for developers using MochiCoins in their games?

60% Developers / 40% Mochi of the gross value of the MochiCoins licenses used within the Developer’s Game. For clarity the gross value of free MochiCoins licenses that may be awarded to end users by Mochi Media is $0. The gross value of MochiCoins licenses that end users have purchased shall be the value listed on www.mochigames.com.

All non-credit card transaction fees are passed on to the customer, for example:

Consumer buys 4,000 coins for with a gross MochiCoin value of $5.00

Consumer is charged an additional $1.50 for buying the coins through their mobile phone. The $1.50 is a straight pass-through of the mobile transaction fees charged by carriers and payment providers

Mochi will split 60/40 based on the $5.00 value, not the total $6.50 price including the transaction fees.

  10. Q: Can a developer use other virtual currencies alongside MochiCoins in their game?

No. We will not accept games that attempt to offer alternative log-in systems or similar paid virtual currency capabilities within the games that are using MochiCoins.

However, we do not prohibit non-paid or experience points or currencies that users may earn based on playing the game, but which do not require a user to pay in actual real world money.

Additionally, a developer or site owner who owns a site may integrate other payment options (for things like on-site avatars, etc), but may not use those other payment options to pay for or unlock functionality within MochiCoins enabled games.

  11. Q: Can a developer use both MochiCoins and MochiAds in the same game?

Yes, provided that your game adheres to the terms of service for each respective service.

  12. Q: Can a developer get a MochiCoins-enabled game sponsored by third party sites?

Yes! Developers are free to license or get game sponsorships so long as the continued use of MochiCoins within the game adheres to the TOS (and that complying with our TOS does not conflict with the obligations of the third party sponsorship or license).

  13. Q: Are developers required to use Mochi’s distribution system in order to use MochiCoins?

No. Developers may decide to use MochiCoins solely for a site-locked version of your game which is otherwise not distributed. However, we encourage developers to take advantage of the Mochi game distribution option as it will likely gain further exposure to users and increase the likelihood of users wanting to transact within their games.

  14. Q: How should developers price their items?

Each game is unique and the value of any given item is unique, so pricing is ultimately up to the developers.

However, the minimum price a developer may set is 200 coins, and pricing is limited to increments of 200 coins.

  15. Q: Who is responsible for customer support?

Mochi Media will be responsible for first level / frontline customer support. We will attempt to resolve customer inquiries as best we can, however, if there technical or game specific questions we are unable to answer, we may refer the customer directly to the game creator / developer
